Follow the history of gastronomy from the Roman times up to the new bistro culture. Practice your growing French culinary vocabulary as you sample wine, cheese, and other delicious French treats along the way. You will walk across the most beautiful bridges of Paris, and stop to look at the most beautiful vantage point onto the city.

This tour in the heart of Paris will crash-course you into 2,000y ears of Parisian gastronomy. Starting at the Louvre and ending in Le Marais, it covers the history of gastronomy from the Roman antiquity to the new bistro culture. On this tour, you will discover how the tradition of gastronomy remained deeply connected with national history.

The tour begins on the oldest bridge of Paris, a vantage point from which you will discover all the wonders of the city. Surrounded by the Louvre, L’Académie Française, and la Conciergerie, you will learn about the highlights of centuries of history and discover the secrets hiding behind the dazzling view.

Over a glass of wine, comfortably sitting in one of the most quiet and beautiful places of Paris, you will then discover secrets known to every French citizen : the correct pairing of food with wine, the order of wines during a meal, the do’s and don’ts of wine drinking - an art that goes back to antiquity.


After this initiation, you will follow your guide across the river, to the imposing Gothic facade of Notre-Dame. Here, we'll be met by Kings and demons, gargoyles and medieval saints, who all coexist in a strange representation of medieval perfection, while magnificent flying-buttresses attest to the technical achievements of the time.

An ice-cream break in the hidden part of Saint-Louis Island will take us back to the present. As you choose between the flavors of the month, or enjoy a glass of organic wine, we'll practice your French, learn about the history of desserts and other entremets, and rejoice that ice-cream, brought to France in the 16th century by Queen Catherine of Medici, is no longer reserved to the Kings and their courts.

The so-called Good King Henry interviewed by one of his ministers about what he wanted for the country simply answered: “I want poultry in every French pot.” Astonished, the duke asked him to confirm: «It is what I want." The Duke found this response a bit vague. He pressed him to tell what France was worth to him. The King replied, "Yes, it is what I want, because winning the heart of my people I will have what I want , and if God still gives me life, I will make sure there will be no laborer in my kingdom that lacks a chicken in his pot”. The Duke did nothing and took it as read. »
